Very well said. Even if Poilievre was more of the leader we should be looking for (and I agree with your assessment of him - he's not Mr Right, he's Mr Right Now), when he takes over he'll be hamstrung by a 90% Liberal senate, a 90% liberal judiciary, and a 100% liberal supreme court - for decades. At this point it feels like Canada's conservative/freedom movement is trying to save a body that's deep in stage 4 cancer by performing a brain transplant.

Very well put! And I fully agree with you that the focus should be on our little corner of Canada, making wise-choices re: the representatives we vote for, support but importantly voice our concerns to with determination. Keep it local, and keep up our vigilance and critical thinking.

PP is, as you said, acceptable-for-right-now material but that is not a dire situation to be in, therefore some cautious optimism is ok. If the people keep the pressure up, and considering the favourable climate in the US, the Conservatives will have no choice BUT to act in the interests of people (and less so in their own self-interest if they want to keep being representatives)

Btw, and admittedly I’m a little biased in this respect, Danielle Smith is a model for good, compassionate Conservative government leadership. The support she’s getting from people and important Freedom voices across Canada ought to make us keep positive on that model swaying higher Conservative echelons to be more like her.

The political landscape is littered with corpses of those who go by the little bit a time crowd. Trump didn’t do that. And look how the cancel woke mob in just a few weeks lost its power to shame and cancel. It’s dead and done. Any acknowledgment, pandering, weakness is oxygen and keeps it alive. In Canada our leaders still are afraid to say the emperor has no clothes.

Good article and very insightful. Canadians generally need to reset their moral compass and stop looking to the politicians to save us from ourselves. Let’s not forget who voted these people in. We are taxed to death, brow beaten, and seeing the spirit of the country being broken on the wheel of the Marxist left who have taken control for the last nine years. I ask is there a solution? There is far too much power focused in the PMO. Parliament is a clown show for the most part. The politicians of all shades are more concerned about their pensions and expense cheques than they are about the needs of ordinary Canadians. Why not put Canada first for a change and quit trying to destroy the economy through regulations and more taxes? Let’s have a council of all the provinces and put power back with the people where it belongs. Break the ties with the British monarchy, declare a Republic and write a new constitution and a new Charter of Rights. Deport all the illegals and those who bring their internecine fights to our streets. Get tough on crime. Quit persecution of those who stood up for our freedoms. Take back Canada.

It's a good thing I'm not on Instagram because you're much more optimistic about Poilievre than I am. I think people are less dependent on hero worship but more importantly being able to follow a plan. Lots of the tired marathon runners are people who have been twisted and turned around various schemes in the name of helping them but ultimately amounting to little or nothing.

I would say that "freedom loving" Canadians, Australians, & others in particular jurisdictions are in a frighteningly dire circumstance and you're right to hint that gradual progress is sadly the best that can be aimed for.

Oh, well, not all was told in this article. I certainly didn't intend to sound optimistic about PP. But we are in a tough spot. There are logistical questions about what Canadians can do short-term in terms of shifting the nature of our federal and provincial governments, and then there are more philosophical, existential questions about what we can do longer-term to shift the culture that could put more characterful persons in positions to assume power. I appreciate your comment.

Poilievre is a raging Zionist and completely bereft of any real substance. He’s far worse on most issues than even blackface sockboy. Only the economy might improve if he wins & that’s wishful thinking. I’m voting for a PPC candidate if I have one in my riding or staying home. I can’t in good conscience vote for a guy who’s pro IzraHELL, pro abortion and pro forced vaccination. PPC are the only ones making any sense

To some extent the problem is one of binary thinking, as I wrote in my Substack essay, "The Fallacy of Binary Thinking." Either this leader is a saviour, or he's evil. Either this political party is good, or it's evil. This kind of thinking is rampant now in our culture, and reveals the deep deficit in critical thinking skills, the inability to discern shades of colour on a spectrum instead of only black-and-white. This is where we need to educate. https://seanarthurjoyce.substack.com/p/the-fallacy-of-binary-thinking-part

I really loved this article. I really want to be optimistic about PP or anyone for that matter (but it's challenging in this current political climate). I certainly think that the Liberal party has had its day and I'm no fan of Mark Carney (if he assumes the Liberal leadership/PM helm). I really try to be realistic especially when my daughters ask questions about the current state of Canada. Certainly I have learned a great deal from the hero's journey course with you and I am thankful that I can critically assess all of these varying situations (keeping my values at the core).

Yes very well stated. I don’t believe that any politician is going to save us. It’s all theatre, the ranting and raving in parliament..when we actually had a functioning parliament, that the so called elected leaders were supposed to be present for, is nothing more than a staged political production made for sound bytes and slogans. The heroes and villains of the respective parties, we hate them or we praise them as saviours, the “only hope” to save our country and democracy. It’s such a farce and it falls further into the abyss that is the swamp by the day. I was a Conservative Party member for years and would get the party money pandering calls monthly, I rarely donated but assured them that they had my vote, as the status quo’s performance was abysmal. About a month ago they called.. “can we count on your support”? I asked, what am I actually supporting? The reply was,”we need money to fight Justin Trudeau”. I said absolutely not, not a dime. Nothing ever changes, just a new slogan or staged video to bombard social media with. I said that the opposition leader has not once spoken of the mountain of vaccine injuries and deaths, not once in support of bodily autonomy, not once against the woke agenda, not once against the unchecked immigration, not once in support of a peace deal in Ukraine.. only more funding to help the war effort, not once against the Chinese interference…(they are just as captured and influenced as the party in power),and lately not once in support of a strong border policy, a real war on the fentanyl crisis, not once with a solution to rid Canada of Chinese triads and Mexican cartels, or a negotiated solution for the tariff issue..which now seems to be incoming from the east as well as the south. Pierre only speaks of retaliation with more tariffs and boycotts.. literally falling into line with the Liberal Party and their destructive agenda. And not once has he spoke out against the shameful act of booing the American anthem. I said to the stunned political telemarketer, that it would seem that your party leader works for the same people as the party in power presently. He was speechless. I kindly asked that my name be deleted from the call list and the party propaganda mail out list.

It’s easy to get caught up in the theatrics and get lost in the rhetoric. It is much harder to walk away, turn off the social media, the 24/7 “bad”news cycles, but you have to in order to maintain your sanity and peace of mind. They want us picking sides, fighting amongst ourselves, it’s always been the way they fight. Soften up the target and then swoop in to save us with the Brave New World, a Build Back Better,We’re All in this Together future plan. We seen it with the cv19 sham and we are seeing it now and it ramps up hourly.

Sorry for the long reply. I had to share my thoughts.

Thanks for the post Julie, you have a new subscriber here!

That is the problem too many people looking to save them. Quite frankly it is time that people start to become self sufficient. Will PP save us, kind of doubt it. He has not taken a stand on any of the Covid Bio Weapon, is now saying he would not change the equalization payments, and more. Is it because he does not want to show his hand to the lieberals. I have believed most of my life that these parties are all the same, they play tag team your turn to govern, so that you think you live in a democracy. These political parties are nothing more than what I call the Legal Mafia.

May 2024: Derek Nobrega, retired senior officer in Canada’s military after serving 26 years and 13 years in the intelligence sector, was asked about  Pierre Poilievre during a Zoom call at a public meeting. Derek Nobrega responded by stating Pierre Poilievre and Justin Trudeau have the same agenda.
